collecting and managing மொய் (wedding gifts) for Tamil events including
weddings, engagements, housewarmings, and other cultural celebrations.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your
personal information when you use our mobile application and website
at moiapp.in.
By using MoiApp, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
👤 Account Information
- Mobile phone number (used for OTP verification)
- Full name and family name
- Profile photo (optional)
- Father's name (for event records)
📍 Location Information
- GPS location (to suggest nearby vendors and events)
- District, city, area, street address
- Pincode
🎁 Event & Gift Information
- Event details (name, date, venue, type)
- Gift amounts and payment records
- Guest names and contact details provided by event owners
- Gift giver information (name, area, amount)
💳 Payment Information
- Payment transaction IDs (from Razorpay)
- Payment amounts and dates
- We do NOT store card numbers, UPI PINs, or banking credentials
📱 Device Information
- Device type and operating system
- FCM token for push notifications
- App usage analytics (anonymous)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account via phone OTP
- To enable event creation and gift collection
- To process payments through Razorpay payment gateway
- To send WhatsApp notifications for gift confirmations
- To suggest nearby wedding halls and vendors
- To generate gift summary PDFs for event owners
- To display your event on "Near Me" for other users (with your permission)
- To improve app features and fix issues
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share information with:
- Razorpay — payment processing (their privacy policy applies)
- Firebase (Google) — database, authentication, notifications
- WhatsApp Business — gift confirmation messages
- Event participants — event owners can see gift details from guests
We may share information when:
- Required by law or court order
- To protect safety of users or public
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers with
industry-standard encryption. We implement:
- Firestore security rules to restrict data access
- Phone OTP authentication for all accounts
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- Payment data handled by PCI-compliant Razorpay
Event gift records are retained for as long as the event exists.
Deleted events have their data preserved for 90 days before permanent removal.
6. Location Data
We request location permission to:
- Suggest nearby wedding halls when creating events
- Show events near you on the Near Me screen
- Filter vendors and stores by distance
You can deny location permission — the app works without it,
but location-based features will be unavailable.
We do not track your location in the background.
7. Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update incorrect information in your profile
- Deletion: Request account and data deletion
- Opt-out: Disable notifications in app settings
- Visibility: Toggle event visibility on Near Me screen

MoiApp is designed for users aged 18 and above.
